Brighton POA Rally

After a very hectic few weeks and even more hectic weekend organising the Exeter Trial Dinner and presentation at the Passage House Hotel it was good to  be setting off in the motorhome for a few days at Brighton Caravan Club Site to meet up with our POA friends and members. The weather was drizzling and dull for the journey  but a warm welcome was there to greet us from Trevor our club chairman with a list of attendees and programme of events. We had a very pleasant suprise to find that longtime fellow POA members Sheila and Allan were attending in their newly aquired motorhome (they had a caravan for a while) so had a lovely catch up with them. Next day dawned bright and sunny with clear blue skies and this was to remain for the rest of our stay. In the morning we joined Jan and Peter on a bike ride from the site to the Marina, others went on a group walk across the Downs towards Roedean and in the afternoon we all gathered outside Anne and John’s van for delicious homemade scones, jam and cream.

Thursday a group of us led by Trevor cycled from the campsite along the seafront towards Shoreham. It was a lovely day and the beach and promenade was busy with people out enjoying the springlike weather, there were even some skinny dippers on the nudist beach! We decided not to go on to Hove a bit too far!

Friday and we had all been kindly invited by longstanding POA members  Janet and John to their house for a “light” lunch. With the weather so good we were all able to sit outside and enjoy crispy jacket potatoes, chile, tuna and sweetcorn, salad, tea and cakes and as most had travelled there by bus several drinks! a wonderful spread in true Janet and John style. Big thank you to them.

Saturday our last day We decided to cycle along cliff path towards Saltdean an easy level ride, stopping for lunch at The Green King Pub before heading back to campsite. Later our Group enjoyed a very lively  enjoyable evening at the Italian Restaurant at the Marina. Big thankyou to Trevor for organising and to all our friends for making our stay such fun.
