Abingdon on Thames

By on

Wednesday 28th July We arrive at C&CC THS at Abingdon Cricket Club fields for a 4 night stay. We’ll situated for walks into historic Abingdon and along the banks of the River Thames. On Thursday we spent a very enjoyable few hours at Nuffield Place once home of Lord and Lady Nuffield. Well worth  visiting. Lord Nuffield was a major motor car manufacturer and became extremely wealthy but donated most of his wealth to good causes including the iron Lung which saved so many lives. Afterwards we drove to Sinodin Hills where we walked up to the viewpoint overlooking the Thames Valley. Then to picturesque Dorchester on Thames to see the Abbey followed by a cream tea.
