Hardy Memorial

By on

Monday we took Roy and Cheryl out in the car to visit the Hardy Monument and Maiden Castle. Still a very hot day but The Hardy Monument is situated on the Blackdown hills so there was a nice breeze. The Monument is  72ft high and was erected in 1844 in memory of Vice Admiral Sir  Thomas Hardy a commander at the Battle of Trafalgar. Maiden Castle is one of the largest and most complex Iron Age Hillforts in Europe  and situated nr Dorchester.
