Normally we would cycle the Tarka Trail from this site but as the weather still unsettled we went out in the car. First crossing over the mediaeval  Bideford Long Bridge with its 24 arches then taking minor roads driving towards Braunton,  Croyde, and the very pretty village of Georgeham stopping at   Putsborough Sands a 3 mile stretch of sands stretching north towards Woolacombe and Morte Point, beaches famous for the big Atlantic waves so popular with surfers. Then taking the coastal route with stunning views of Saunton Sands to Ilfracombe, where we parked by the harbour nr the Damien Hurst statue of Verity (which we dislike!) and bought fish and chips for lunch. Then took the main roads back to the CL. The next morning was sunny and bright but we had to head for home as lockdown was starting the next day.Click on images to enlarge. Bideford Bridge, Putsborough Sands, Woollacombe Bay and our pitch at Barton Farm.
