Sunday 1st November – Lockdown Announced!

By on

After hearing the not unexpected news that a further lockdown was to be introduced from the 5th  we had to rethink our plans. Roy and Cheryl were due to depart anyway vowing to do more ‘Bridges’ ! We decided to go out in the car, which we had bought with us, as another miserable wet day. First we drove to Severn Beach a small town on the estuary with a very nice long sea wall which, had the weather been better, would have been a good walk or cycle ride. From here we had good if somewhat misty views of the new Severn Bridge. Next we drove to Aust to view the old Severn Bidge, it was here that the Beachfield Ferry once operated between Aust and Beachley, connecting the West Country to Wales before the Severn Bridge opened in 1966. Its possible to cycle across this Bridge so a ‘must do’ on our bucket list. Click on images to enlarge. The New Severn Bridge, The Old Bridge and the causeway to the old Ferry Crossing
