Inspector Montalbano

Today we set off along the coast in search of Film locations used in the popular TV series Inspector Montalbano all filmed in this part of Sicily. Our first stop was at the small fishing village of Punta Seca. This is where the opening of each episode starts with Montalbano swimming in the sea nr his house on the beach. The little village has benifited enormously from this series as fans visit. Fortunately its still unspoilt. Next we headed inland to Scicli where the scenes in the police station and Commisio are filmed. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to find filming actually in progress! The police station (actually the Town Hall) was cordoned off for film crew and equipment. We spent all afternoon watching and hoping to see some of the stars. Much to our delight Caterrella appeared and greeted the fans I have a photo with him but it’s not very good! Then later Montalbano came over and posed with his fans for photos.. It was an entertaining afternoon. Now back on coast on a camper stop run by a very chatty chap. There are a lot of longterm winter campers here.
