Spetse Island

By on

The coach arrived at 9 this morning to take our group to the small island of Spetse off the southern tip of the Peloponnese. Renowned for its boutiques and picturesque streets and fancy yachts its a popular place for wealthy Atheniens. Today was no exception being May Day a public holiday and it was extremely busy. Weather was a bit overcast today but still warm. We made the short crossing from the mainland to the island by small water taxis at high speed! After a coffee break we walked to the lighthouse all along the Quayside, dodging the many horse and buggy carriages, scooters motorbikes cyclists and other pedestrians – such fun!! On the way back we found a quiet restaurant overlooking the harbour for lunch. Then back to join our group for our return journey back to campsite.
