Spurn Head

By on

After a very stormy day on Tuesday Wednesday dawned sunny but still windy. After lunch we got the bikes out to cycle along the narrow spit of land to Spurn Head. We had been told that it was difficult as a section of road had been washed away and was dangerous in places. Undaunted we decided to give it a go, the tarmac soon ran out and we had to push the bikes for a mile over the sand and shingle before reaching a concrete path that took us to the end. It was tricky at times but well worth the effort as we watched the big ships passing up and down the Humber Estuary. The sea was brown and in a turmoil with the high winds. Also There were remains of several ww2 defence installations. It was a 10 mile ride.
