Holmfirth Peak District
Last of the Summer Wine

After a lovely day and evening with our Pilote friends Tom and June we are now camped on a farm nr Homfirth. We made a short drive out in the MG first to Stocksbridge to drive up Peat Royd Lane starting in The town it rises steeply past rundown factories the surface is rough and uneven and twists and turns until the road peaks framed by high stone walls. Good views back down the valley of the town. Before our next climb we make our way to Hepworth and the Oily Can Cafe an interesting small classic car museum, workshop and vintage cafe and shops. Well worth a visit. Then it was on to Jackson Bridge a Hill well used in filming Last of the Summer Wine. It was varied in gradient as it wound its way up to Tinkers Monument. We stopped for a photo overlooking Jackson Bridge home to Cleggy.
