After coffee drove up The Stang a Hill through Stang Forest the road lined with colourful rhododendrons. Then a switchback ride across open moorland to the county borders at the summit. Drove on to pretty Reeth in Swale Dale James Herriot country for our picnic lunch on the village green. Continued on our route following the River Swale before heading off to drive a challenging road across Whiteside and Summer Lodge Moors at 1,790ft, affording glorious views of Swale Dale below us. Our circular Tour then took us back across Grisdale to Reeth and finally back down The Stang and back to camp.
