Thursday 17th September The Gower Peninsular

By on

After a very busy Summer and in need of a break we packed up the Motorhome attached the Hyundai to the A frame  and headed for Wales, one of our favourite places to visit. First stop was a CL on the Gower Peninsular for two nights. We were lucky to have glorious weather for our stay. First afternoon we drove the short distance to moorland where we did a 2mile walk to a viewpoint, Arthur’s Stone an ancient burial site with a legendary tale of King Arthur spending the night here. So of course, we had to go! A high point with views over llanrhidian Sands and salt marshes. Second day  first we drove to  Rhossili and Worms Head. We had been told by the CL owner that the scenery was spectacular and it was! We walked the end of the cliffs but decided against the very rocky causeway crossing to the Worms Head Rocks! Instead we sat in the sun having our picnic and soaking up the wonderful scenery. Next with me driving and Arthur navigating we explored some of the beautiful small villages and beaches before driving through the salt marshes where we encountered sheep cows and ponies on the roads. Back at camp our friendly site owner introduced us to his menagerie of hens ducks turkeys and Welsh horses. He even presented us with 6 beautiful brown eggs. A lovely start to our visit to Wales
