Devizes

We had a few days away in the motorhome with friends Jenny and Colin at the CCC site at Seend nr Devizes. The site is very well situated for a winter break as good hardstanding and heated shower block. There is a bus stop outside to Devizes and Bath or Trowbridge. The adjacent canal towpath is excellent for walking the 4 miles into Devizes or cycling. Wednesday we cycled towards Trowbridge passing the Barge Inn which does excellent food and Thursday we cycled into Devizes passing by the famous Caen Locks  The spectacular ‘staircase’ of 16 locks is one of the longest in the country. We stopped at lock 44 for a coffee in the Caen Hill Café which has some interesting photos of the construction of the flight of locks before reaching Devizes which was market day. Friday was a wet day so we caught the bus from the site to Bath. Saturday we set off for home after a very enjoyable 3 days.
