The coach arrived at 8.30am today to take our group on a city tour of Athens our first stop was at the world famous Acropolis and it seemed like all the world was there! It was heaving a very popular visitor attraction. We had a very knowledgeable guide. We entered through the Beule Gate and ahead is the Propylia the entrance to the temple complex  On the right is the temple of Athena Nike and at the top the Erechtheion and the Parthenon which dominate the top of the rock with stunning views over Athens  On the south slope are two theatres once used for drama festivals. After a tour of the Plaka the historic heart of Athens we stopped for lunch before visiting the Acropolis Museum which provided a fascinating insight into what the daily life was like in ancient Athens. Finally a short stop at the vast white marble stadium restored in 1896 for the modern Olympic Games. An interesting day. In the evening we spotted a Hoopoe Bird hunting for insects around our motorhome
