Sicily to Pisa

By on

We have now arrived in Pisa and its the end of our Tour of Sicily. Since leaving Mount Etna we made our way across country to the North East Coast. Driving on mountain roads with fields of black lava but made more attractive as lots of wild flowers. We booked into an Agricampeggio on the coast its a ‘posh’ sosta. All spotless facilities lovely big pitches and next to a beach. More importantly the young owners are very eco friendly something Sicily has a lot of catching up to do to bring the country to EU standards. We stayed 4 nights swimming relaxing. On Saturday 8th we  boarded the midnight ferry at Palermo to take us back to mainland Italy at Livorno. We docked at 7pm on Sunday and made the short drive to Pisa campsite. Later we walked into Pisa to see the leaning Tower no crowds! Only jubilant football fans driving around blowing their horns and waving flags!

So this will be my last blog as we are today making a dash for home. Sicily has been interesting some parts we’ve enjoyed but not the rough roads crazy drivers and litter. Driving has been challenging and quite stressful at times. Highlights were Mt Etna, Valley of Temples, Enna, Villa del Romana, and for me meeting Montalbano, lava fields and our last campsite. My advice to anyone would be go with GB motorhome tours they know the best campsites best routes and best attractions.

I hope you’ve enjoyed following us on our travels. I can see from my site that I do have a lot of followers which is nice to know. We are now making our way back to the UK and spending the night nr the Millau Viaduct. Below are my last photos from this tour.

To date since leaving home we have travelled 4,123 miles with another 650 to do before we reach home.
