POA AGM Rally

Stratford-Upon-Avon

On May 11th we travelled to Stratford for the Pilote Owners Association AGM. We wined, dined and were entertained in style all over the weekend and a big thank you to all involved in the organisation. Whilst there we did a cycle ride with new members Roy and Cheryl along the Stratford-Upon- Avon Canal. Its an easy cycle ride from the Racecourse into the Marina to the start of the canal.

The first section getting out of Stratford is a bit tricky as it involves a couple of steep and awkward pushes up and over small bridges to cross some short but steep locks. After this it is easy cycling alongside the canal which is extremely picturesque with swans with cygnets and a variety of waterfowl with young, wild flowers, pretty cottages and of course lots of brightly painted canal boats. There are lots of locks for the boats to negotiate through which is interesting. We cycled as far as Wilmcote, a very smart village with some very fancy houses, to Mary Arden’s Farm House home of Shakespeare’s mother. As it was now a very hot day we headed back to the site for lunch. We did a total of 10 miles.
