Dartmoor and Kit Hill
Tuesday 9th October. Glorious morning so set off for a drive in the MGTC. First we called in at Indio Lakes Paul and Sarah’s new business venture at Bovey Tracey. (see link to their Holiday Lodges at foot of Home Page) then a scenic drive across Dartmoor via Haytor, Widecombe , Dartmeet, Two Bridges, Merrivale and Tavistock before crossing into Cornwall towards Callington to visit Kit Hill. Kit Hill at 334 metres high is one of five Marilyn Hills in Cornwall. Kit Hill has always been an important site and has been shaped over 5,000 years of human activity from agriculture to the mining of its stones and minerals. An ornate mine chimney sits atop of Kit Hill. After a walk we made our way back across Dartmoor bathed in beautiful Autumn colours along our route home. A good day out 90 miles in total.
