Athens

Early start today to drive to Epidaurus to try to beat the crowds. Epidaurus is an ancient Greek theatre which is considered to be one of the most perfect ancient theatres with regard to acoustics and one of the most beautiful and well preserved. It was stunning and I think my photos show how beautiful it is. We then carried on towards Athens a lovely scenic ride along the coast stopping off on route to view the famous Corinthian Canal which cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and connects the Gulf of Corinth to the Agean Sea. We first went to the sinking bridge. This is a submersible road bridge that lowers 8 metres below water level to allow the passage of boats along the canal. We were lucky enough to see this happen Fascinating!. We then drove to the main bridge over the canal. After a photo stop it was onwards to Athens and our next campsite. Brilliant day.
